Attorney John Phillips discusses the Jordan Davis case as featured on ABC's 20/20 and Discovery ID.
In November 2012, 17-year-old Jordan Davis was shot and killed at a Jacksonville, Florida gas station by Michael Dunn — over loud music. Dunn fired 10 rounds into a vehicle full of teenagers, then drove away and ordered pizza. He claimed self-defense under Florida's Stand Your Ground law.
The case became a flashpoint in the national conversation about racial justice, gun violence, and Stand Your Ground laws. Dunn was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole.
John Phillips represented the Davis family and has been a vocal advocate for justice reform in the wake of this tragedy. He has presented TEDx talks on equality and justice, contributed to media coverage on over 500 occasions, and continues to fight for families impacted by senseless violence.
