“Officer Down” is an attempt to broaden the dialogue around police violence and race relations in America by telling two sides of an inter-related story.
One perspective addresses frustration and rage around violence towards police; particularly the senseless assassinations of innocent officers who put themselves in harm’s way in the process of doing their jobs. The companion perspective addresses the repeated and unjustified manslaughter by police of innocent black American citizens and the lack of consequences for the officers involved.
Systems of oppression are only broken from the inside out. “Officer Down” is an attempt to look inside the system so that we can break free of the narratives and create a new one.
